Interesting book of a sailing adventure through the Caribbean. I've read all 3 in the series, and was initially attracted due to the Bayfield boat that was the center of the adventure. I enjoyed the stories and the mixed in history of some of the islands very much. I must say that the 2nd and 3rd books of the series both just end abruptly with no wrap up or conclusions. It's kind of like reading a book from the library that had the final few chapters ripped out. I'm reading along and turn the page ... nothing.As a sailor myself, I am impressed with the notes that must have been taken in order to prepare these memoirs. All in all, these books are very much worth the low cost, and I thank the authors for taking the time to compile these stories. This is the third book in a series and readers should try to take the books in order. One builds on another. The series is first class writing in general and superior in the "I went for a sailboat ride" genre. The series is very well edited which really helps the story advance. The author takes the reader along on the cruise revealing the real story of buying a boat, refitting it, and heading out for the Caribbean. The couple are not seasoned sailors. They make all the classic mistakes with good humor. More importantly, they show how one's resiliency and state of mind are critical to success. I loved the statement that most cruisers quit not because they can't sail but because they can't keep the ice cream frozen. As a lifelong cruiser and sail-training instructor to would-be cruisers all I can say is, "Yup, that's it."David Beaupre demonstrates that cruising is not about the boat or the route it is about the people.
